White Owl
Deborah Trent, 2023 · Acrylic on canvas
I decided to paint a white Barn Owl perched on a white birch.

Inspiration
This piece hangs in my great room, positioned behind a 16-foot birch limb set in a large cement planter—so it looks as if the owl is truly perched on the tree.
Artistic Process
I kept the palette intentionally neutral, with a single pop of color on the beak and one breast feather to draw the eye.
- Brushes & tools: ½" grainer, Round 2, 1" stroke; paper towel; cotton ball.
- Paints: Norwegian Orange, Black, Brown, Mid-Value Warm Beige (Fawn).
Reflections
Though not a Snowy Owl, he fits perfectly with our Minnesota winters.
