I was thinking about Tokyo’s wonderful ramen. Here, a few friends duck into a back-alley shop for a warm, simple meal.

A steaming, comforting bowl of ramen for dinner.
Artistic Process
I’d never painted a detailed scene with people before, and the cooks proved the most challenging.
- Brushes: Round 0, 1, 2.
- Paints: Yellow Ochre, Deep Green, Cobalt Blue, White, Black, Scarlet, Brown, PearlEx Aztec Gold; Micron Black 0.5 pen.

Tokyo is home to an estimated 7,000–10,000 ramen shops.
