Double White Peony
Deborah Trent, 2021 · Watercolor / Pen on paper
A lovely peony by my front garden walk. This plant moved with me to my new home—a cherished transplant from my mother’s garden.

Inspiration
I love the simple, unfolding softness of peony petals. If only I could paint their wonderful fragrance.
Artistic Process
I painted the flower first, then outlined the petals and leaves with a pen.
- Brushes & Tools: Round 2, Micron Black 0.5 pen.
- Paints: Titanium White, Hansa Yellow, Sap Green, Joseph Z’s Warm Grey.
Reflections
I kept this bloom loose and open, with flowing, sketch-like lines.
